In a thrilling finish, the biggest rivalry of the Men's College Basketball season ended with North Carolina taking down #4 Duke 71-68 in Chapel Hill Saturday night.
Being down 41-29 at the half, the Tar Heels looked like they had no answer for Cameron Boozer and the Duke offense. But after outscoring the Blue Devils 42-27 in the second half, Seth Trimble was able to win UNC the game with a 3 pointer with just 0.4 seconds remaining. Cameron Boozer finished with another double-double, finishing with 24 and 11, while leading the team in points and rebounds. Caleb Wilson led North Carolina in points, scoring 23 and going 8/12 from the field. “It means so much,” said Trimble after the game. “This rivalry… this university means so much to me.” Coach Hubert Davis said “It happened to the perfect person.”
The win from the Tar Heels marks their first over the Blue Devils since March 9, 2024. This game proved why UNC vs. Duke remains one of the best rivalries in all of sports, with intensity, and simply high-level basketball.
